The Howey Lab

Christopher A.F. Howey, PhD

I’ve always had a strong passion for wildlife conservation. Much of my research focuses on understanding how changes to the environment affect reptile and amphibian populations. In order to fully understand these ecological impacts, research must focus on varying levels from population dynamics to physiological responses. Current research in my lab (1) investigates the affects of prescribed fire on timber rattlesnake (Crotalus horridus) behavior, thermoregulation, and glucocorticoids; (2) investigates the affects of prescribed fire on red-backed salamander (Plethodon cinereus) thermoregulation and metabolic rates; (3) investigates the affects of ambient light at night (ALAN) on the behavior and physiology of green anoles (Anolis carolinensis).
